Black with red accent, has been a primary color combination at Pyramid Lake NV for decades. Since introducing this color for the giant cutthroats at Pyramid, Arctic Fox received confirmation about the effectiveness of this color combo from a wide variety of geographic locations. Black as a color is most effective in low light conditions and in turbid waters. Low light and dirty water limit the light available to reflect off bright colors. Black has good contrast in these conditions.
The tandem hooks freely move and articulate, unlike many fixed tandem hooks, making these flies look like a real minnow swimming along!
This fly is tied with a pair of #2 Gamakatsu plated hooks suitable for saltwater use. Rinse well in freshwater after use in the salt to maintain their durability.

Why Arctic Fox Fur?
These flies are tied with Arctic Fox fur which has hollow, air-filled hair shafts similar to a polar bear that's pigment free and can be dyed "hot" colors.
This fur is soft but tough. Fur is meant to protect an animal whereas marabou is a feather which is dainty and meant for flight. At Arctic Fox, we needed a tough material so that could be tied onto salt water hooks and have a fly that will stand up.
