Arctic Fox Flies Tui Chub Baby Bass #2 Trolling Fly Single Hook Green Wh Brown

Price

$5.46

The tui chub is a primary bait fish for the desert lakes of the Great Basin. These fish have an olive back in weedy waters but some are more gray in waters with sand - gravel bottoms. When viewed from the rear they have a hint of gold about them that comes from a pigment under their scales.

A dozen years ago Arctic Fox Trolling Flies maker traveled the east side of the Sierra at the end of the trout season to see which lure colors were “out of stock”. The answer was gold/red spoons, spinners and plugs. This streamer pattern has two pieces of gold flash for each red.

This is also a very realistic representation of a baby bass.

These flies can be rigged and trolled in a number of ways. These flies can be fished “naked”, just the fly and manipulated with your rod. The Jay Fair method and ripping are a couple of ways to fish just a fly on a sinking line. Dodgers are another popular way to animate the flies. Dodgers limit the speed range for trolling without rolling the fly.

Why Arctic Fox Fur?

These flies are tied with Arctic Fox fur which has hollow, air-filled hair shafts similar to a polar bear that's pigment free and can be dyed "hot" colors.

This fur is soft but tough. Fur is meant to protect an animal whereas marabou is a feather which is dainty and meant for flight. At Arctic Fox, they wanted a tough material that could be tied onto salt water hooks and have a fly that will stand up.

Give these flies a swim, you're sure to be pleased with their action and durability.
